RE: 2 night stay - May 25, 26, 2019 Sleep Inn & Suites 1147 Technology Drive O Fallon, MO, US, 63368

I stayed at the Sleep Inn & Suites, O'Fallon, MO, May 25 and 26, 2019, it was not my first time, and I have stayed here a few times before. On May 26 I was awakened at 7:30 AM with a call from Maggie at the front desk asking me if I will need housekeeping today.

I was sound asleep; a lot of people are at that time of the morning on a Saturday. Why would anyone wake up a customer at that hour to ask such a ludicrous question? Of course I would want housekeeping, who would want to sleep in and unmade bed and not have their bathroom cleaned a little with fresh towels? Isn't that service part of a hotel stay?

I couldn't fall back to sleep so showered and went down to breakfast at 8:30 AM to find the breakfast buffet almost completely empty and a line of hotel guests holding empty dishes and waiting for more food to come out. There were no more eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffle batter or pancakes. Even the muffins were depleted and they were out of milk. I went to Maggie at the front desk and told her they are out of everything and the one girl who was handling things was overwhelmed.

I then mentioned that I didn't appreciate her calling me at 7:30 AM to ask me if I wanted housekeeping. Instead of a polite response Maggie snapped at me and with a really bad attitude, she said in a loud voice: "We are fully booked, over crowded and understaffed and trying to take short cuts." She wasn't very nice! I responded saying: "I paid over $90 a night and expect better service, courtesy and food when I come down to breakfast." I also reminded her that there is a sign in the room that says: Commitment to your satisfaction, If your not satisfied with our accommodations or service, please let the front desk know without delay so we can make it right.โ€ She scoffed at me; she shook her head and went off to help the dinning room girl. No apology nothing!

I'm 75 stayed at hundreds of hotels around the world and never received such and attitude or response to a complaint. (I attached a copy of the sign in my room) The next morning the same exact thing! They charge full prices and complain they are short handed, is that the guestโ€™s fault? Shouldn't paying guests expect a kind face and some food at the breakfast buffet?

The staff at this hotel needs some lessons in courtesy. My room was OK although the door didn't lock.

I seriously think I'm owed and apology and a 22% refund on my entire hotel stay bill, for the inconvenience of getting up early, for no breakfast two mornings in a row and the lousy treatment of me as a hotel guest. I know your going to say the breakfast is free, but come on, guests count on it, and I was hungry and had to go out to eat!

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Monetary Loss: $50.

Preferred solution: Price reduction.

Sleep Inn Hotels Pros: Room was clean and modern.

Sleep Inn Hotels Cons: Breakfast buffet was empty.
